Modern Slavery & Human Trafficking Policy

Purpose

This policy sets out your responsibilities under the UK’s Modern Slavery Act 2015 and outlines the steps you must take to ensure that modern slavery and human trafficking have no place in your day-to-day operations when working with customers, suppliers, or business partners. It reflects your commitment to acting ethically, with integrity, and in full compliance with legal requirements to eradicate exploitation in all forms.

Scope

This policy applies to you, whether you are a team member, contractor, supplier, or business partner. You are responsible for upholding these principles in all your activities, both within the UK and globally.

Definitions

  • Modern Slavery: Encompasses slavery, servitude, forced and compulsory labour, and human trafficking.
  • Human Trafficking: The recruitment, transportation, transfer, harbouring, or receipt of persons by improper means for exploitation.

Your Responsibilities

Compliance and Awareness

  • You are expected to be vigilant in identifying any signs of modern slavery or trafficking at Datel, and when dealing with third parties (customers, or business partners etc).

Reporting Concerns

  • You have a duty to report any suspicions of modern slavery. Reports can be made to your line manager, The People Team, or to a Director. 
  • You will be protected from retaliation when reporting genuine concerns.

Due Diligence

  • If you’re working with a customer, a supplier, or business partner, you must complete due diligence checks and ensure that their business practices align with this policy.

  • Datel is committed to identifying areas of risk within its operations. 

Customer and Partner Accountability

  • Datel’s customers, suppliers, and business partners will be required to confirm their adherence to anti-slavery practices. Datel reserves the right to terminate relationships with those who fail to meet these standards.

Transparency

Breaches of Policy

  • Breaching this policy, whether through direct involvement in modern slavery or failure to report suspicions, may result in disciplinary action, including dismissal or termination of contracts.
