Modern Slavery & Human Trafficking Statement

This Modern Slavery Statement is a response to Section 54(1), Part 6 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and relates to actions and activities for the financial year ending 31st May 2024 (FY23/24)

Our Business:

Datel is committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all its business dealings and relationships. We maintain a zero-tolerance stance on modern slavery and are committed to eradicating its presence from our operations, partnerships, and customers. This statement outlines the steps

Datel has taken and will continue to take to prevent modern slavery.
Datel specialises in delivering Sage-based business management solutions to organisations across the UK. Based in Warrington, we have over 240 employees and serve a diverse client base.

Our supply chains primarily include technology providers, office services, and professional consultancy support. While the nature of our work puts us at relatively low risk for modern slavery, we remain vigilant and committed to ensuring our practices and partnerships align with our ethical standards.

There were no concerns of modern slavery raised to us through our grievance process during FY24.

Due Diligence:

As part of our efforts to monitor and reduce the risk of slavery occurring in our supply chains, we have adopted the following due diligence procedures:

When working with a customer, supplier, or business partner, we will carry out due diligence checks to ensure they have a modern slavery statement or a relevant policy outlining their zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery. We will also verify that their business practices align with this commitment to ethical standards.

Understanding Risk:

We believe the risk of modern slavery in our supply chain is relatively low compared to other industries. Nonetheless, we acknowledge our responsibility to uphold human rights throughout our business and remain committed to enhancing our due diligence processes.

Our Policies:

Our policies are designed to ensure Datel remains a safe, compliant and competitive workplace. These include a fair and transparent hiring process, diversity and inclusion policies and practices, competitive benefits and wellbeing initiatives, and enhancements that go beyond statutory entitlements.

There are several key policies that promote fairness, respect and accountability at Datel. Our Dignity at Work policy ensures a workplace culture where every individual is treated with respect and free from harassment or bullying, fostering an environment that values human rights. The Equality of Opportunity policy reinforces our dedication to fairness, through recruitment and progression. Additionally, the Grievance policy provides a clear framework for team members to raise concerns, including unethical or exploitative practices. Together, these policies promote ethical standards and uphold human rights.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure effectiveness

The number of suppliers who have been subject to due diligence, and the number of employees trained on modern slavery.

Training

All employees, suppliers, customers, and business partners must confirm they have read and agree with this statement, and our Modern Slavery and Trafficking policy.

Current Position on Modern Slavery

Datel has not yet implemented policies or procedures to address modern slavery risks but acknowledges this gap and is committed to action. As our predominantly UK-based operations and supply chains are considered low risk, we remain vigilant and proactive in preventing these practices.

During FY24/25, we committed to:

  • Reviewing modern slavery across Datel’s operations and supply chain
  • Evaluating our approach to human rights to ensure our policies and procedures remain effective and adhere to industry best practices; and
  • Continue to monitor our due diligence processes when working with customers, suppliers or business partners.
