When ambition outpaced the system

Evolve Energy’s growth ambitions were reshaping the business. Following a new long-term structured trading agreement with Shell Energy Europe Ltd (SEEL), the company was preparing to scale significantly, serving larger customers, managing higher billing volumes, and expanding its operations.

But as the finance team looked ahead, they realised their existing system, Sage 50, couldn’t keep up. It struggled with transaction volumes and offered little in the way of automation or audit control. Reporting was slow, heavily reliant on Excel, and increasingly unsustainable for a growing business.

The team decided to act early, choosing a system that could support the business they were becoming, not just the one they were.

Since implementing Sage Intacct, Evolve Energy’s finance team has seen a complete shift in how they work.
