At Datel, we know your time is precious, especially when it comes to learning about new updates, releases, and product roadmaps. That’s why our mid-year Sage X3 update is built to give you exactly what you need: insight into the areas that matter most, and what they mean for your business today and in the months ahead.

Following the recent Sage Summit in Atlanta and the release of Sage X3 R1 2025, it’s clear that this isn’t just another technical update, it’s a Sage X3 release focused on usability, compliance, and intelligent automation. Here are some of the key takeaways.

E-Invoicing & AP Automation: Preparing for what’s next

The pressure to stay compliant with ever-evolving e-invoicing mandates isn’t going away and Sage X3 is continuing to meet that challenge head-on.

R1 2025 introduces enhanced tools for compliance with global standards like PEPPOL, alongside country-specific frameworks. These changes help reduce the risk of fraud, streamline your AP and AR processes, and give you better visibility into how cash is moving through the business.

New capabilities include:

  • Automated invoice processing — speeding up matching, approvals, and exceptions.

  • Support for e-processes — helping eliminate duplication.

  • Better cash flow visibility — reducing financial surprises.

What’s important to remember here is that legislation continues to change, often at pace. That’s why Sage, along with partners, are working together to make sure customers stay ahead of compliance demands, with as little disruption as possible.

X3 Builder: Innovation that moves with you

Mobility took centre stage at the Sage Summit in Atlanta, and X3 Builder was a real highlight. It’s a low-code toolkit built for creating mobile-first apps, quickly, simply, and with the end user in mind.

We saw it in action with real-time inventory scanning, mobile approvals, and field updates, all handled straight from a phone. It shows just how far Sage X3 has come in supporting teams wherever they are.

We’ve already jumped on the opportunity. Our R&D and technical teams recently held an internal hackathon with Sage to explore what’s possible with X3 Builder and the results were exciting. Tim Purcell, our R&D Director, shares more on that in the video.

It’s the kind of innovation that helps businesses cut out manual steps, speed things up, and get more from the systems they already have.

AI in Sage X3: What to expect from Sage Copilot

AI is more than a buzzword and in Sage X3, it’s becoming something tangible. Sage Copilot - Sage’s AI assistant, will land in Sage X3 later in 2025, and we’re already getting hands-on with it through the preview programme.

So, what will it do?

  • Natural language chat: Ask “What are my outstanding POs over £10K?” and get an instant answer.

  • Intelligent alerts: Know when a customer has repeated late shipments or when behaviour changes.

  • Proactive insights: Spot risks early, highlight performance issues, and help teams act faster.

The aim? Less time digging for information, and more time acting on it.

We’ll be sharing more as Sage Copilot gets closer to launch within the product, but rest assured, we’re already feeding into its development to ensure it adds value where you need it most.

SEI: Smarter reporting with AI and a new look

If you’re already using SEI powered by Nectari for reporting and analytics, you’ll be pleased to hear it’s also evolving, with some exciting AI-led capabilities on the horizon.

Here’s what’s coming soon:

  • A refreshed user interface.

  • Smarter workbook management.

  • AI-powered chatbot reporting, letting users ask questions like, “Did my profits go up this week?” and get a clear, data-driven answer.

  • AI summaries that can read and explain reports in plain language.

All of this supports a simple idea: reporting should help you act faster, not get stuck pulling spreadsheets together.

We’ll be sharing more on the latest SEI updates soon.
