What are the differences between Break-Fix & Monitor support?

Our Monitor service uses automated scripts to perform proactive system checks, with results reviewed each morning by a Datel Support Consultant. Any identified issues are addressed promptly, often before the customer becomes aware of them.

In contrast, Break-Fix Support relies on the customer logging an issue, which may mean problems go unnoticed for days or even weeks.

While the Monitor service is highly effective, it does not capture all issues, such as those arising from daily processing within the Sage 200 solution.

What are the benefits of us proactively dealing with disconnected logins?
Disconnected logins can build up and subsequently be one of the main causes for locking your users out of key functions. It is a vital housekeeping function that is often overlooked but with our Monitor service we help keep them to a minimum by clearing them down daily.
How does Monitor go over and above just supporting SQL Server?

With standard SQL Support, there are no proactive checks or ongoing monitoring. While we set up maintenance plans, we won’t know if something goes wrong unless you spot it and report it to us.

The Monitor service takes a more proactive approach. Each day, we check that maintenance plans are running smoothly and that overnight SQL backups are successful. Additionally, we perform a quarterly health check to:

  • Monitor transaction log growth.
  • Identify and add any missing indexes.
  • Ensure new databases are included in maintenance plans.
  • Verify SQL backups are clearing down properly.

After each health check, we provide a report with recommendations to keep your SQL environment running efficiently.

Does Monitor look after company database backups?

Yes, the SQL backups we set up will be directed to a location of your choice. While we handle the setup for you, it’s your responsibility to ensure there’s enough storage space and that the backups are kept secure.
