Customer Insight

Your experience shared

We value the insight of our customers. Find out how you can share your experience and advice to others within our community.

Customer community matters

Our focus is on your success and we love to hear, and share, the success of our customers and the advice you have for others. We aim to continually share advice, knowledge and the successes of the businesses within our customer community so others can gain from your experience.

Whether you have worked with Datel for the first time, or have a long standing partnership with us, we capture and share your story to help and inspire others. It’s your story, not ours, that matters and how you have solved a problem, met a challenge head on or made strides forward as a business is always of interest to other Datel customers.

Why share your story?

Experience is valuable and, in our opinion, is valuable to others once shared. We believe in sharing your experience, knowledge and advice to others, to strengthen our community of business leaders, finance professionals, Sage advocates and users.

By sharing your experience you can:

  • Build thought leadership content to share with your own networks
  • Gain exposure for your business and what makes you unique
  • Share the success of your project
  • Showcase how you utilise technology
  • Acknowledge those involved in the project within your business or team
  • Capture footage and photography of your business for your own use

How we share your story

There are a number of different ways you can engage with us to share your experience, your story or more about your business with the community of customers at Datel. Here are a few examples of how we have engaged with customers in the past and how we could work with you.

Video story

Working with our friendly in-house content creation team, we’ll visit your business location (or you can come to us) and capture your story as a ‘Q&A’ or ‘talking head’ video. Q&A involves having a conversation with one of our team who will also be on camera and a Talking Head video captures you sharing your experience to camera. Both styles start with agreed questions to prompt your answers and the difference happens in the capture and edit of the video. We can capture one or more of the team to share different viewpoints and experience.

Written story

A written story is often in a blog format and authored by us as a Q&A with you.  We can pre-agree the questions, or just have a chat leaving us to turn the conversation into an article. We’ve also created guides and animated videos from the conversations we’ve had with customers, particularly if you have advice to share to others embarking on a new project. All written content, including quotes and snippets for LinkedIn, can be amended via email, call or Teams call to make sure you are happy with the content and to make the edit an easy process for you. We love to capture some photos of your business to bring the story to life and will send our photographer to you to capture this if you don’t have any branded photographs.

Partnership announcement

A partnership announcement is exactly that; a LinkedIn post that shares that you have made the decision to work with Datel.  We love to share new customers with our community and do this via a LinkedIn post. We can tag your business and your team into the LinkedIn post, and give you approval of any content written alongside the announcement LinkedIn card before sharing.

Logo use

We love to share the businesses within our customer community and may reach out to ask permission to use your logo. If you agree, we’ll add your logo to website pages, social media posts, emails and presentations as appropriate, in the context that you are a Datel customer.

What to expect

As a customer looking to share your experience, we value your time and make sure the process of sharing your story is an enjoyable and low impact experience for you and your team. Outlined here is how we typically work with our customers, but we are always happy to work with you in a way that suits you.

Introductory call

Often, the first steps to hearing your story and experience is an introduction from your account manager, customer success manager, consultant or similar person within Datel. They will set up a Microsoft Teams call to introduce you to Datel’s programmes manager Sarah Dennis to have an initial chat.

In-depth discussion

Next, we’ll have a video call via Microsoft Teams with Sarah and our marketing director Emma Pownall to dive deeper into your experience and success. This can be with yourselves, or you can bring others into the discussion at this stage. We’ll often record the call to refer back to when planning the content.

Deciding how to share your story

We’ll suggest the best way to share your story - whether it's through video, podcast, blog article, LinkedIn post or quote - and confirm you are happy with the approach suggested.

Creating your story

For video, we’ll schedule a date for filming and have a preparation call to decide questions and logistics before we come out to see you. We’ll then spend a couple of hours at the location of your choice to capture you and the team on camera. For written stories, we’ll write the first draft based on our conversations and share it with you for input and comments. We love to incorporate photography of your business to bring the story to life and will arrange for our photographer to visit you and capture some photos.

Revisions and approvals

We’ll share a first draft and ask for your feedback. We can make any necessary edits to the content based on your input, and share it with you for final approval. Until you are happy with the content, and we have the required sign off, we won’t share anything with the outside world.

Publishing your story

We’ll plan the publishing schedule through our marketing channels, including email and LinkedIn, and make sure your team has the assets and key dates to also share the story. You’ll also have access to any footage and photography we capture to utilise as you wish in the future. We’ll report back on any significant engagement and feedback.

“As a Datel customer, I've been able to share my industry expertise by speaking at various events. Being featured on Datel's website and social media has enabled us to highlight our digital journey and successful partnership, showcasing our innovative strategies both within our organisation and to the broader community.”
